At the combined age of 99.75 we decided to let Georges and Myrtle take us on our biggest peddling adventure yet. The plan is to ride from home in Rugby to l'autre chez nous vers Le Muy in Provence following the length and breadth of France. We will try to keep the journey updated along the way as best we can and as solar power feeds the laptop. Our draft route has a page link down the right side. Thursday 10th April - Steep to West Wittering
Turns out our Owens Cycles guy turns out at 6.00am to make sure the complete wheel re-built doesn’t delay our plans! So, camp dismissed and back on the road not much later than normal.
Late breakfast donut in Petersfield, courtesy of Greggs (break a leg Pat ;-)).
Hit the Downs and hit by the Downs just south of Petersfield by Buster Hill; the longest and steepest on the route so far. Wonderful reward from the crest though and what felt like miles of free-wheeling to Rowlands Castle.
Returned to some familiar territory from previous rides as we headed to Budge’s for a few nights. Snuck our lunch out at the Bosham Inn before reaching West Wittering around 3.30pm - pants off and into the wash!
First milestone completed.
